The Royal-Pedic Organic
Cotton Innerspring Mattress is carefully constructed to offer you very high
quality. The covering, padding, binding tape, and insulator pads are
 made
with
100% organic cotton, grown without pesticides
or chemical fertilization to provide a healthy, restful sleeping experience.
The feel of this mattress is an orthopedic firm, according to
Royal-Pedic. Optional 2", 3", and 4"
Pillowtop Pads provide extra cushioning and
 pressure
point relief, per the manufacturer (see below). The mattress is 8" thick,
and overall mattress height to the floor on an 8" thick box spring and 7 1/4"
metal bed frame is about 23". Click on image to left of

The mattress features the double heat-tempered,
Royal-Flex® innerspring system,
designed in Switzerland. The innerspring unit contains 85% more coils than
is standard in the industry. This features Royal-Pedic's Deluxe Coil
System (580 coils) for extra comfort. The coils in the mattress are open-ended, unknotted,
six-turn coils, providing more flexibility -- which means greater sensitivity to
body contours, enhanced overall body support and relaxation.
Royal-Pedic's skilled craftsmen hand-layer the
organic cotton padding on
 each
side of the innerspring unit after securing the 10-oz. fabric to the innerspring
unit to prevent the cotton padding from pocketing into the coils. Click on
image to enlarge. Note that Royal-Pedic no longer uses Foxfibre organic
cotton in any of its products, so the organic mattresses are no longer colored
brown.
Missing from this mattress is a product called Flexolator.
Flexolator's cardboard cording contains formaldehyde, and it is found in place
of the insulator pad on some mattresses. Also, insulator pads in
many other mattresses contain glues, resins and wool, which can all cause
allergic reactions.
The inner cotton padding is encased in organic cotton ticking, which is
free of dyes,
 sizing
chemicals, fabric softener chemicals, and fire retardant chemicals.
It is the purest organic cotton ticking in the world!

The mattress is
hand-tufted the old fashioned way, with
European tufting straps to pre-compress the padding for orthopedic back support.
Royal-Pedic states that it does not use buttons to tuft mattresses because
buttons have a tendency to turn on their side, creating an uncomfortable
sleeping surface. Over time, as the padding compresses, the string that
connects the buttons is no longer as taut, allowing the buttons freedom to
contort on their sides.
Royal-Pedic's Organic Double Diamond or 8" Box Spring construction
is the finest available. Royal-Pedic represents that on the Double
Diamond, the company provides
22%
 more
coils than is standard for extra support and durability.
In addition, there are 50% more coils located in the center-third of the box
spring to better support the torso (40% of our body weight is located in
our mid-section). The box spring contains organic cotton ticking, padding,
insulator pad, and undercloth. So even in the box spring there are
no synthetics or artificial chemicals in the materials. Double Diamond
available with Deluxe (580 Coil) Mattress Version and 8" available with Standard (522
Coil) Mattress Version.

Optional Organic Pillowtop Pads --
2", 3", and 4" Thick:
  We
recommend you consider adding an organic pillowtop pad to your Royal-Pedic
bed.
According to Royal-Pedic, these optional
pads provide extra cushioning, luxurious comfort, and additional pressure point
relief to hips and shoulders for the ultimate in rest and relaxation.
The pad lays right on top of the
mattress, with no straps. Then the mattress pad and fitted sheet go over
both the organic pillowtop pad and the
 mattress
itself, holding the pad in place.
In addition, these organic pillowtop pads are quite substantial in weight, and mattress
and pillowtop pad coverings are cotton on cotton, rather than slippery polyester

The organic pillowtop pad has a non-prorated
manufacturer's limited warranty of 5 years.
Organic pillowtop pad choices vary by height, although all are single-sided and all have
French wool and natural latex. The 2" is knife-edge construction, while
the 3" and 4" have boxed edge construction.
The 2" thick pad will
 provide
minimal cushioning, while the 4" thick pad will provide more cushioning and

padding on both sides of the mattress:
Fitted sheets pull on easier.
Removing the pad when rotating the mattress means less weight to handle.

your order. The optional French wool wrap (natural fire
retardant) inside the cover eliminates the need to provide a note.
