Harmony Natural Latex Deluxe Mattress:

The Harmony by Pure-Rest™, per the manufacturer, is great for those who have back problems, are concerned about electro-magnetic fields, live where mold or dust mites are of concern, or just want a supportive, comfortable, high-end mattress. 

 

We particularly recommend this mattress for children, as it takes a beating and offers children good support -- at an affordable price.

 

Free of Volatile Organic Chemicals (VOC's), according to testing paid for by the manufacturer.  Pure-Rest claims that not all "organic" latex mattresses are truly chemical-free, especially those made using the Talalay process.

The Harmony is comprised of 97% pure, chemical-free natural latex core (5.5-6").  Overall height about 7".  It is covered with a sturdy, deluxe European organic cotton cover quilted to organically processed wool (from organically raised sheep) for natural flame resistance.  A matching 7.5-8" foundation is available.  You may specify the firmness -- medium/firm or firm!  Click image to super-size. 

 

The fact that the wool is quilted to the cotton fabric ensures that  the wool will not migrate out over the years.  The quilting prevents shifting and provides a sturdy durable, and comfortable sleeping surface.  An extra amount of wool and organic cotton batting make the top comfortable, per the manufacturer. 

 

Other manufacturers, Pure-Rest™ states, tend to use a little less on top to cut costs.  Unfortunately, that might cause your mattress to feel firmer over time.  According to Pure-Rest™, these mattresses easily conform to your body's shape and minimize pressure on your joints and back.  Pure-Rest™ represents that its mattresses are highly recommended by chiropractors for back support without the uneven support such as possibly associated with innerspring mattresses.

 

Note that the Harmony may be available in a VEGAN MODEL.  That is, cotton replaces wool in the construction.  Excellent for those who may be sensitive to wool.  Call to check on availability (not always in stock) and pricing.

Slat Foundation for the solid base feel.  This wood foundation goes well with any Pure-Rest™ natural rubber latex mattresses, per the manufacturer.  Height about 7.5-8" OR 5" (you specify if you want the 5"; otherwise, you will receive the 7.5-8").  Just below is an image taken at the plant showing stacks of basic slat foundation frames.  These are covered in wool and organic cotton, as described below.  The finished basic slat foundation matches the Pure-Rest mattress in appearance. The manufacturer chooses poplar, it claims, as it is purportedly the least offensive wood to chemically sensitive persons.  The manufacturer says that this type of wood is strong, durable, non-aromatic, and can be dried naturally over time (i.e., no chemically-induced drying).  The solid wood frame is then covered in matching organic cotton, quilted to a layer of pure organically processed wool (from organically raised sheep).  This matches the Harmony mattress and provides airflow to control moisture.  It is sturdy and strong, per manufacturer claim.
