Pure-Rest Apollo Innerspring
Organic Mattress:
The Pure-Rest Apollo Organic Innerspring Mattress
is manufactured in the USA. It is made from the finest
organic cotton and pure wool. Layers of organic cotton and wool are
tufted together, then covered with organic cotton/wool. This is a very
well padded innerspring mattress.

The mattress is constructed with high quality
innersprings that are electrically tempered steel coils (14 gauge), surrounded
by organic cotton. The cotton is then wrapped in organically processed
pure
EcoWool from organically raised sheep. This is quilted onto
deluxe organic cotton jacquard European outer fabric,
which ensures the wool will not migrate over the years. The manufacturer
tape edges in pure cotton instead of standard nylon binding to ensure an even
higher level of purity.
The Apollo
Mattress features organic wool inside the quilted cotton on the sides to reduce
moisture and increase air flow.
The quilting prevents shifting and provides a
sturdy, durable, and comfortable sleeping surface. The extra amount of
wool and organic cotton batting makes the top more comfortable than
other
products, which tend to have a little less on top to cut costs. Unfortunately,
that construction can cause your mattress to feel firmer over time.
The Apollo is
constructed of a sturdy 680 coil count (standardized to Full size) innerspring
unit of heat tempered steel.
Foundations must be the Pure-Rest box springs
for warranty protection.
We recommend: Any mattress will feel
supportive but will feel softer with the addition of a plush topper. We
also strongly recommend use of an organic cotton mattress pad and/or wool
moisture pad on all mattresses (see
Bedding).
Slat Foundation for the solid
base feel -- recommended for the Apollo by Pure-Rest. Height about
7.5-8" OR 5" (you specify if you want the 5"; otherwise, you will receive
the 7.5-8"). Just below is an
image taken at the plant showing stacks of basic slat foundation frames.
These are covered in wool and organic cotton, as described below.

The
manufacturer chooses poplar, it claims, as it is purportedly the least offensive wood to chemically
sensitive persons. The manufacturer says that this type of wood is strong, durable, non-aromatic,
and can be dried naturally over time (i.e., no
chemically-induced drying). The solid wood frame is then covered in
matching organic cotton, quilted to a layer of pure organically processed wool
(from organically raised sheep). This matches the Harmony mattress and
provides airflow to control moisture. It is sturdy and strong, per
manufacturer claim.

Note that this optional setup does not include assembly of bed frames, which is
the responsibility of the customer. If in the unlikely event there is
"concealed damage" (i.e., something wrong with the product discovered only after
opening the box) and you have us arrange setup, the carrier would send it back
to the manufacturer for replacement at no additional expense to you. If
you do your own setup and discover "concealed damage" after signing for the
shipment and opening the box, you would be responsible for paying return
shipping charges (which might range up to $400).
